History

In 1875, Joseph Bulova, a young Czech immigrant, established the legendary American watch brand in New York City. Trained as a jeweler, Bulova's expertise transferred to his watchmaking career, which started around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches. It soon evolved to include wristwatches, with the introduction of Bulova's first line in 1919. The company prospered, with early radio and television ads declaring, "America runs on Bulova time."

In the 1950s, Bulova continued its legacy of innovation by introducing the Accutron, the first electronic watch and a breakthrough in timekeeping technology. The Accutron timing mechanism was later used by NASA computers, and a Bulova timer was placed on the moon to control data transmissions. Bulova timepieces have also served as official timepieces for U.S. Olympic teams and onboard Air Force One.
